What to Wear at the Grand Canyon
Updated October 18, 2026 · 4 min read
Practical clothing and packing advice for every season and every kind of tour.
Layers are key
Mornings and evenings can be cold even in summer. Wear a breathable base layer and bring a fleece or light jacket. In winter add a warm coat, hat and gloves.
Footwear
Sneakers or light hiking shoes with good tread work for most tours. For Antelope Canyon, expect sand. Avoid sandals on rim trails.
Sun and water
Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, and carry more water than you think you need. On flights, dark clothing reduces reflections in photos.
Bag rules
Antelope Canyon tours typically restrict bags, and the Skywalk does not allow personal items on the bridge. Check your tour's important information before you go.
